Say It Loud

Say It Loud (SIL) was an arts program for youth at HYCC. True to the "Hawthorne way", youth particpating in SIL chose the artistic medium and message they wanted to create, giving space for self-expression and artistic discovery. In 2011, after five+ years of programming, HYCC decided to revamp, adding support for 21st century skills in combination with artistic practice. From 2011-2015, SIL focused on developing social justice messages--especially issues related to systemic racism--in a variety of digital media art formats. Below is a gallery of some of the work produced during 2015.
